2007: British Academy overseas conference grant: American Association of Applied Linguistics Annual Conference, USA. (£1,000)

 

2009: British Academy overseas conference grant: Texas Tech University (USA), to present a paper at the special conference on “Second Language Processing and Parsing: State of the Science”, (£700).

 

2012-2014: Alan Giles Academic Scholarships, to support a research project on the effects of an artificial language,  (£24,000). 

 

2010-2012: High Commissioner for Minority Languages, to develop a research project on language teaching methodology (Teaching Guidebook), 2010. (£ 58,000). Project in collaboration with the Bureau for Development of Education Macedonia, British Council Macedonia, State Universities from Skopje.

2012: Leverhulme Visiting Fellowship for a project on language Processing, (£18,470).

 

2013-2017: Project title: Motivation and the effects on Processing Instruction in the Acquisition of Modern Standard Arabic. Research grant secured from Ministry of Education of Libya and the Libyan Embassy (£24,500).

 

2013-2016: Project title: The role of grammar instruction in the acquisition of Japanese (http://www.palgrave.com/us/book/9781137498915). Sasakawa Foundation Grant (£8,400). PhD School Scholarship for three years (£50,000). Grant from the Ministry of Education in Japan (£10,000).

 

2014-2016: Project title: Retention and Attainment for pupils taking Modern Foreign Language (MFL) subjects. Major Challenges Fund (in collaboration with School of Education and Royal Greenwich Teaching School Alliance Royal Borough of Greenwich   (£213,000) – project on MFL on Pedagogy, Retention and Attainment for pupils taking MFL subjects. Additional £37,000 received to extend the project to Primary Schools.

 

2017-2018: Project title: Re-examining Input Processing and Processing Instruction: New theoretical and methodological developments. Arts and Humanities Research Council, standard grant scheme (£75,000).

 

2016-2018: Project title: A research-based approach to foreign language teaching. KA2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices Strategic Partnerships for higher education. Grant the University of University of Salzburg and University of Milan (190,000 Euros).

 

2018. Panama Bilingual Programme. Panama Ministry of Education ((£200,000)

 

2018-2021. PhD Named-Scholarship, donation by Express Publishing, University of Portsmouth. (£50,000)

2019 (Internal grant AUS). Processing instruction: New theoretical, methodological trends and real word applications (120,000 AED)

 

2020 Sharjah research Academy Grant (50,000 AED). Development of an online program for language teachers.
